The Swedish Side and the Russian Side

Learn about the time when the River Kymi formed the border between Sweden and Russia

Sweden's King Gustav III and his troops crossed the River Kymi with waving flags in 1789 and turned the area around the river banks into a battlefield. During the tour the guide will tell e.g. about Gustav's war, the Peace of Värälä and about the manors in the region.

The route runs on both sides of River Kymi from Kouvola via Anjalankoski to Elimäki and Kuusankoski. We will enjoy coffee at Kymi Pavilion in Kuusankoski. In the Pavilion you can also acquaint yourself with the Finnish Paper Art Gallery and make purchases in the Pentik factory shop.
