Artist meeting

Kouvola Art Museum Poikilo’s Kosketukssia exhibition [https://www.poikilo.fi/aajonkahiset/kosketukssia-nayttely-avautuu/]  presents four experts in material-based art with a renewing touch on tradition: Tuuli Autio, Soile Hovila, Tiia Matikainen and Melissa Sammalvaara. The Kosketukssia artist group works with ceramics, wood and textiles. What they have in common in their work is thinking by hand, long-term working processes and the search for a connection to nature.

ATTEND TO THE ARTIST MEETING

* Saturday 7.3. at 1:00 p.m. Tiia Matikainen and Melissa Sammalvaara

The artist meeting is included in the museum admission fee.

Tuuli Autio sculpts wood with an axe while listening and Tiia Matikainen works the clay surface by carving and scratching while drawing. Soile Hovila has been weaving an 11 square meter tapestry for the third year and Melissa Sammalvaara has hand-tied 10,000 ryijy knots into one work.
