Jussi Kouvo Folk Opera
Jussi Kouvo is Jouni Sjöblom’s fifth folk opera and it is named after the first known resident of the village of Kouvola, Jussi Kouvo, who later also gave his name to the city of Kouvola. Jussi Kouvo is therefore the ancestor of Kouvola. The folk opera deals with the early stages of Kouvola in the 16th and 17th centuries, telling about the equestrian facilities of the village of Kouvola and the lives of people closely connected to military history.
