Open doors at the Kouvola Home and Radio Museum during Kymenlaakso Museum Week
The third Museum Week in Kymenlaakso will be held from 2 to 7 June 2026
The Kouvola Home and Radio Museum will then present a charming early 20th century locomotive driver’s building. From the 1920s to the 1960s, each decade has its own name room. They have been furnished according to the decade and special attention has been paid to the technical equipment of the time. Not only radios or record players, but also an old vacuum cleaner from the 1930s or a hairdryer from the 1950s have been made to fit well into the furniture.
Especially younger people will encounter equipment that they may have heard of but have not seen or at least do not know how they work. So the younger members of the family are also welcome.
In the same courtyard there is a building focused on radios. There is one of the largest, if not the largest, collection of different radios in Finland. A particularly complete collection is of wartime radio equipment. Some of them have only one piece left in the world and you can see it here.
Welcome to explore.
