Elving Tower

The Elving Tower was built between 1905 and 1907 by Rudolf Elving. The original purpose of the tower was to provide fire protection and to control unauthorised fishing and hunting. Elving also showed his guests the magnificent views of the northern Valkeala wilderness from the tower.

During the wars, the tower was used as an air surveillance post for pilots. In the 1950s, the interior burnt down and the tower was forgotten until the Valkeala Lions Clubs, together with the then Kymi Company, restored the tower and opened it to the public in 1995.

The tower is over 20 metres high and offers a magnificent view of the Repovesi National Park.
