Mustila area
Little did Axel Fredrik Tigerstedt, state councillor, geologist, and dendrologist, know what he was doing when he started cultivating Mustila Manor in Elimäki in the early 20th century. The Douglas firs are now swaying at 40 meters tall, resulting in Finland’s oldest and largest arboretum, that is, a tree species park.
The esteemed state councillor began planting foreign conifer trees on a nearby hill, thus giving rise to Arboretum Mustila. In May and June, our tree species park is so crowded that we barely have room to marvel at the flowering valley of Rhododendrons.
