Coffee concert “From Ingria to Karelia”
A year ago, vocalists Arto Rinne and Nina Castén founded a rare duo in Kouvola, which will expand into a trio for the first time in a joint concert with kantele artist Minna Raskinen from Sippola. The coffee concert to be held at the Antares Art Center (Sippola) on Sunday, March 1, 2026, will offer a generous portion of Ingrian and Karelian contemporary folk music.
Arto Rinne is known for his 40-year folk rock career in Karelia, and Nina Castén as a nuanced performer of world music. The playing of Minna Raskinen, a long-time kantele musician from Kymenlaakso, brings depth and nuance to the trio; a sound that is both rooted in tradition and freshly bubbling.
The concert program will feature both rearranged tradition and original compositions – music where bursting joy and tones of longing meet, like the cultures of the border region. The band’s warm, emotional and intense performance promises the audience an experience that will not leave you cold.
The café is open for an hour before and after the concert.
The concert celebrates the newly formed Trio’s school and general concert tour in Kouvola, which will start in early spring.
