In 1543, the prosperous house of Karrala was farmed by three families. In the 18th century, six Karralas were formed from the Crown’s riding farm. At that time, the houses operated according to the so-called communal house system. After the Great Divide in 1848, the lands were divided and the premises got their own owners. The last owner of Karrala – the Patriarch of Kolisevan – ruled the house until 1977. He lived as an old boy, a bit meager, prospered the house and thanks to careful housekeeping, the house flourished. The family donated the main building of the house to the municipality of Iitti. The old house, designated as the Karrala Homestead House, was built in the late 18th century.
