Jaala imaginary fish – a community work on New Year’s Eve 2025
Three silver fish tails sticking out of the gold barrel of the former coat of arms of Jaala municipality tell of the importance of salmon fishing, handicrafts and waterways in the history of the region. The light work to be presented on New Year’s Eve is inspired by this tradition. The work presents various imaginative fish creatures that could swim in the waters of Jaala at different times.
During the autumn, students at Jaala Primary School have designed and painted their own imaginary fish. These works have been compiled into a joint work that will be projected in three dimensions onto the Jaala Arena.
The work will be seen for the first time on New Year’s Eve 2025 and will celebrate Jaala’s community and local identity through a light work.
The light work workshops and editing of the work were carried out by light artist Mia Erlin
Meditative music by Elmer Forsström
Area lighting by Jyrki Kleimola
at 8:00 PM Fireworks at Jaala Liikasenmäki
Jaala VPK and Lions Club Jaala ry, as well as other local associations that supported the event and companies.
