Culture and Attractions
Kouvola is known for its natural attractions, but in addition to them, the city has plenty of culture and cultural history. You can explore the area’s industrial heritage in Verla, Ankkapurha, and Taideruukki. Culture enthusiasts should not forget the Poikilo museums, Kouvola’s Tatteri, and sites designed by Alvar Aalto.

Repovesi and Verla Area
The UNESCO World Heritage site Verla offers a wonderful cultural and historical experience for the whole family. In this beautiful area, you can explore the industrial heritage of Kymenlaakso, but also enjoy a summer day and indulge in some treats. A visit to the museum can easily be combined with a stop at Repovesi National Park.

Ankkapurha Area
You can get a glimpse of the industrial heritage and history of Kymenlaakso in the Ankkapurha area. Ankkapurha hosts one of Finland’s most popular youth centers, an industrial museum, and a cozy summer café. Plus, there is a magnificent manor nearby! Taideruukki
Culture thrives in the shadow of the factory. The Taideruukki, created in an old factory building, houses amazing artisans, a cozy café, and a charming concert venue. This unique area in the factory landscape by the Kymi River continues to surprise even after several visits!

Kouvola Theatre
Great emotions from one end to the other and wonderful guest stars known by the whole nation. Kouvola Theatre is a pleasant place to stop by during a visit, whether with friends or as a group. A theatre trip also offers excellent opportunities for enjoying time with a team or work group.

Poikilo Museums
In the changing exhibitions of Poikilo, you will find thought-provoking works and beautiful art. In addition to the art museum, Poikilo also includes the city museum, which provides a glimpse into Kouvola’s local history. All of this is under one roof, right near the center of Kouvola.

The joint orchestra of two cities delights, makes you laugh, and moves you. In Kymi Sinfonietta’s concerts, you can hear historical melodies from the world of music, not forgetting fresh masterpieces.
