Aston Squid
Aston Kalmari will release a single called “Polkupyörä” on Friday, August 28, 2026. According to the band, the ambiguous language of the song, aimed at adults, will make even the most rigid listener’s ears prick up. “Polkupyörä” is the last single from the band’s third album before the full-length album will be released in September.
The red thread of the album “Mun sydän hakkaa mut”, to be released on September 18, 2026, runs around great emotions – it includes shy infatuation, burning love, blazing passion and overwhelming friendship. In honor of the new album, the band will head out on an album release tour in the fall and the band will arrive in Kouvola (albeit by bicycle) on Friday, November 13.
Aston Kalmari is a rock band from Lappeenranta known for their blazing live energy and insightful Finnish-language lyrics. The band offers its listeners an empowering platform to identify with issues that are not usually talked about out loud, such as mental health challenges, relationship problems and loneliness. Aston Kalmar’s music mixes the right mix of upbeat punk rallies and rock riffs that deal with heavier topics.
The band’s hardest core was best summed up by Mika Kähkönen in his Rajatapauksia blog: “Aston Kalmari is like the brotherhood from the movie Bad Boys. A little bit of a scoundrel, but good-hearted gentlemen, even though they have tattoos and stuff.”
