Poikilo: Muuttuva kaupunkimme
Our Changing City 26.11.2025–10.10.2027 Kouvola City Museum Poikilo
Do you know what was in a place that is important to you 100 years ago? Some beloved buildings can only be seen in photographs, while others have faithfully served different users from decade to decade or century. Our Changing City exhibition presents the changes in Kouvola’s built environment and places that are important to the area’s residents, combining historical and contemporary photography and the experiences of city residents.
The city’s change is examined through the decades, not only from the center of Kouvola, but from different parts of the vast city. The terrain is being modified, buildings are being built – and demolished – for a variety of reasons that also divide opinions. The city and its inhabitants are a living entity that is constantly changing. Come and admire the gems of urban photography from the museum’s collections and sense the historical layers that surround us. Let’s go on a tour of the streets of our changing city together.
