There is no other composer who has influenced the world of cinema as much over the past two decades as Oscar, Golden Globe and Emmy award-winning Hans Zimmer. His incredible compositions include “James Bond”, “The Lion King”, “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Gladiator”, “The Dark Knight”, “Superman”, “Inception” and “Interstellar”.
German-born Hans Zimmer rose to fame with the music for “Rain Man” and has since gone on to score numerous Hollywood megahits, including “Mission Impossible II”, “Gladiator”, “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Interstellar” and “Batman”. Hans Zimmer received his eleventh Oscar nomination in 2018 for the soundtrack to Christopher Nolan’s film “Dunkirk”.
The audience will hear interesting backstories, such as how Hans Zimmer conveyed the anti-apartheid message in the lyrics of the song for “The Lion King” in his native language, telling Disney that it was about butterflies. Hans Zimmer admires Ennio Morricone’s work and names him as his role model. The concert will feature excerpts from Morricone’s films “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” and “Once Upon a Time in the West”.
The concert will also feature a song composed by Zimmer for the victims of the Aurora cinema shooting and music he composed to protest climate change.
