Turmion Midwives

The Resodance album, which will be released in October, will take Turmion Kätilöt to Finnish concert stages.

“Machine music becomes crushing through tension, contrasts and pure weight”

On Saturday, October 24, the Turmion Kätilöt band’s COLOSSAL DISCO, which will fill the Helsinki Ice Hall, will begin the industrial metal band from Savo. The tour, which will start in Lahti on November 7, will continue until April next year and will reach all the important cities and concert venues in Finland. The band will head to Kouvola just before Christmas on Friday, December 18.

The performances are related to the band’s 12th studio album, which will be released on October 23. With the Resodance album, Turmion Kätilöt takes their recognizable style to the electronic extreme, which is also represented by the single Raivotortjatno, released at the end of July.

– Raivotortjatno is not progressing – it is breathing. Built on restless rhythms and stripped-down harmonies, the song draws influences from the cold and merciless machine music of the late 1990s and early 2000s, where simplicity becomes crushing through tension, contrasts and pure weight, describes Turmion Kätilöt soloist MC Raaka Pee.

The brand new single Lunastakaa continues Kätilöt’s characteristic brilliant coexistence of twisted black humor, heavy industrial metal and electronic beats.

– The lyrics to Lunastakaa were born from news stories that dealt with the abuse and exploitation of power and questions about how badly a person can be broken and whether justice or compensation can ever be obtained for what happened. Later, someone also found a more self-ironic interpretation of the lyrics: artists turn themselves into commodities in exchange for money, visibility or approval. It fits this world frighteningly well, says fellow singer Shag-U, who wrote the lyrics for the song.
