Cafes in Kouvola city center
When your sweet tooth strikes and you crave eye candy along with sugar, dash to Manskij’s pedestrian street and Ramin Konditoria. From the cafe’s large windows, you can watch passersby on the pedestrian street just like in Esplanadi. Warning: the cake selection may cause decision fatigue, and the cake pieces are so beautiful that you might hesitate to eat them. However, we encourage you to take a picture and then dive into the cake!
On the other side of Manskij’s pedestrian street, you will find Coffee House. Through “Coffarin,” you can conveniently transition to the nearby Rosso if you have a bigger hunger. You can start with the salad bar!
A city like ours deserves its own signature coffee, and the Kouvola coffee has been crafted by the charming Papulaari. From Kouvola’s hippest cafe, you can get high-quality specialty coffees, cakes suitable for special diets, and other snacks. Don’t forget to grab some Kouvola-themed souvenirs and local delicacies for your shopping bag.
Papulaari is just a stone’s throw from the Matkakeskus, so it’s a perfect stop even during train transfers. Just make sure you don’t get so carried away that you miss your connecting transport!
Allun torikahvila is a cozy tent cafe and a local legend. Along with your coffee, you can grab a donut or a delicious meat pie. The market also has Cafe Sion, serving Italian artisan ice creams, specialty coffees, and waffles all year round. Kouvola residents voted Cafe Sion and its owner as the Best Central Business of Kouvola in 2023.
A short distance from the city center, you can visit Veturi Shopping Centre, where the cafe Naapantuurassa offers local products from its own bakery, delicious salads or toasts, and warm drinks. The cafe is open even on weekdays in the early evening, so there’s plenty of time to grab coffee after work.

If you need a flowing water accompaniment for your coffee, enjoy your cup by the Kymijoki River at Virtakiven Sauna. The riverside container bar can quench even a big thirst in the evenings. You can reach Virtakivi for coffee by almost any means of transport you can think of: by car, moped, bicycle, or by boat along the Kimola Canal.
Located in Kuusankoski, Vanha Kauppa is a cozy and well-known cafe featuring local products from Panimo Hoppa. The former shop building, constructed in 1925, has been given new life as a cafe and restaurant.
In the Ankkapurha area, there’s plenty to experience, including Makasiinikahvila. In addition to delicious offerings, you can find art there.
Located near the arboretum in Mustila, the Mustilan puistokahvila is a charming summer destination. The old granary situated on the slope starting from the parking area is worth a visit in itself.
