Beach holiday in Kouvola!

Did you know, that Kouvola is the hottest town in Finland? Along with the record-hitting warm climate and over 400 lakes, Kouvola is the perfect place to spend some beach days. So pack your bikini, swimming trunks, sun screen and towels: it’s time to make a beach holiday by the lakes!

Käyrälampi beach

Käyrälampi is the perfect spot if you’re looking for activities and services as well. Right at the beach you’ll find restaurant Loiske, Tykkimäki AquaPark, and an own beach stripe for dogs. If you’re the sporty type, you can hit the volleyball fields or enter the disc golf track.
Next to the beach you’ll find also Tykkimäki Camping. From the camping office & restaurant, you can rent sup-boards and book a grilling hut or a minigolf field.
Käyrälampi has a long pier reaching out to the lake. This beach has also the spacy changing room and toilets. You can feel extra safe while swimming since this beach has also lifeguards watching over for the safety of the beach. You’ll need more than one day to explore this beach and all of its activities!

Särkkä beach

If you’re looking for a calm and chilled out day in the sun with shallow waters on a beach stripe, Valkelala’s sandbanks are your choice. Even though this beach is a bit out of town, you can reach it easily with the car. Valkelala shallows is a perfect place to go with small children since the waters are very shallow. Beach has changing rooms and an outhouse.
In case you want to spend the whole day in this long sand stripe, remember to pack some water and snacks: there is no shop or services nearby.

Venna beach

This small and cosy beach can be found from Utti next to the military area. shallow shore id great also for the smaller members of the family. This charming little beach has two changing booths and one outhouse. In case you get hungry you’ll find ABC Utti and it’s many services 4 kilometres to direction Lappeenranta.

Koivusaari lido with beach and three pools

In Myllykoski you’ll find Koivusaari beach with one beach and three pools with different depths. Koivusdaari has changing rooms and toilets as well. If you get enough of the beach, you can dry up by throwing around of disc golf.

In the late summer, natures waters in Finland may have an issue with blue-green algae (cyanobacteria). If you see these lime-green algae, swimming (especially for children and pets) is not recommended. Kouvola is monitoring the quality of the water constantly, and you can check the water report in Kouvola environmental services on Facebook or see the latest reports from here. In severe cases, there will be notes on the beaches as well.
